Plex supported Smart TV models
To stream movies to TV via Plex Media Server, first make sure that your Smart TVs are included in Plex supported Smart TV models. How to Rip Blu-ray to Plex Media Server Streaming to TV?
Step 1: Load Blu-ray disc.
Insert the Blu-ray disc into your computer’s Blu-ray drive. If your computer doesn’t ship with a drive, you will need to purchase an external USB Blu-ray drive to read on the data on Blu-ray disc. Then press “File” > “Load from disc” option on the main interface, alternatively, you can also import Blu-ray folder or Blu-ray ISO files with the program.
Step 2: Define the output format.
Click the “Format” option, from its drop-down list, select one of your TV supported file formats such as “H.264 HD Video(*.mp4)” under “HD Video” main category.
Tips: Click “Settings” on the main interface to open “Profile Settings” window, here, you can flexibly choose or specify exactly the parameters including video codec, resolution, bit rate, frame rate, audio codec, bit rate, sample rate, channels, etc as you like to get better output video and audio quality for TV.
You can also directly output TV preset profile formats if your happen to own the Sony/Panasonic/LG/Samsung TV model.
Step 3: Adjust output aspect ratio.
Open the “video editor” window, click the “Crop” tab. In the “Crop” window, switch to the “Advanced Mode”. To keep the cropped aspect ratio, there are several aspect ratios for you to choose from, including 16:10, 16:9, 5:4, 4:3, 3:2, and 2:1. Once you select your TV’s compatible “Display aspect ratio”, the “green crop frame” will keep this ratio to crop video and you are able to preview the final effect in real time. If you want to keep the same aspect ratio in your final output files, do remember to set the Video “Size (pix)” in “Settings” section as the same ratio as display aspect ratio.
Step 4: Begin the conversion process.
After all setting is completed, hit the “Convert” button at the right bottom of the main interface to begin to rip Blu-ray into TV compatible file formats or preset profile formats.
When the conversion is finished, click “Open Output Folder” icon on the main interface to open the folder with generated files. Then add converted files to Plex and install the Plex app on your TV to stream and view the movies with Plex’s beautiful interface on your large screen TV.
